The NY Times has an article here. I have always enjoyed his pots, he was know for using rope pressed into the clay as decoration. It was also a technique used by prehistoric Jomon Potters.

This is a great article about modern art in the 20th Century. The subtitle from ‘The history of the world is none other than the progress of the consciousness of freedom.’Although I am not sure about the word “progress” associated with “consciousness of freedom”. I mean does freedom have a conscious? and why in an idea or work of art translate into having freedom?
